Now to IRC!!

Both Aberaeron and New Quay have arranged for 2 official measurers to be available to measure rigs and sails on 2 separate weekends These weekends have been chosen because most boat owners will be preparing their boats for launch and will be around. The 1st date is Sunday the 20th of March in Aberaeron, and then the 26th and 27th March in NQ. There will be helpers from both clubs on hand.

The cost of the certificate is at a reduced rate of 4.45 (pounds) per meter plus 20 (pounds) per boat to cover the cost of the measuring, and the measurers traveling expenses.

To carry out the measuring the owner / representative will need the following:

1. The mast will need to be up.

2. The Spinnaker pole present.

3. Any Black Bands you intend to have on the mast and boom should be in place prior to measuring.

4. You need your largest headsail, mainsail, and largest spinnaker.

This is a starting point for both clubs, so please be patient, the following years will be a lot easier because it will be about revalidation, so most yachts will not have any changes. Any helpers available to assist with measuring would be a real bonus and speed thing up because this is a busy time for all boat owners.

LASTLY but not least: LIFT IN!

As you are all aware lift-in is scheduled for Wednesday the 6th of April2011, as you can imagine the cost of weekend lifts is going up all the time and becoming extremely costly for all!

The tides are very good and if the weather is with us we should have no problem lifting in over one tide. However by moving the lift to a weekday, if for any reason things go overtime we can afford the extra cost.

Could I ask those members that are available to volunteer to help with the lift in and give me their names, once again the more the merrier!!!!!!!!! Please don't leave it thinking others will be available because it just doesn't work like that! The yacht club will not be able to continue to organise the lifts is members do not volunteer.

In advance I would like to thank the ladies providing us with wonderful breakfasts and refreshments.

Lastly lift in / out is always a stressful time, could I ask you all to be patient, keep calm and if you see others needing help please join in, we all want the same conclusion, A SUCCESSFUL LIFT. Shouting, bad language and tempers will not be tolerated by the yacht club volunteers, or the crane operators.

Let's all look forward to a great season.
